the little things

Today, three things reminded me of the differences between Germany and the U.S.A.

In Deutschland:

1) Houseplant pots never have holes in them.

2) Folders never have pockets.

3) Sour Creme is never sour cream, not even if it has the American flag on it.

end of summer beer drinking

This weekend we’re going to the center of the beer drinking universe: Munich in full Oktoberfest mode. Supposedly it’s the world’s largest public festival where annually 6 million people (tourists) tip back more than 5.7 million liters of beer. Full report (and photos, of course) when I return.

gorgeous

Just want to document that it’s gorgeous today. Deep blue skies, sun, a hint of coolness. It’s been this way for the last week. I need to remember this for the dreary weather everyone tells me will come soon and stay until July of next year.
