subprime

I spent some time yesterday trying to understand the subprime mortgage crisis in the US. I did find this interesting article in the Washington Post, which helped clarify Collaterized Debt Obligation. But I’m still not sure I understand what triggered the collapse of  what Pearlstein calls a "financial house of cards."

There must be some enlightened reader out there who knows of a good article that explains how this happened and what it means. Send me a link!

expiring miles

Any Northwesterners have an Alaska Airlines frequent flier account? If so, I have 10,000 miles set to expire in April. They are up for grabs, assuming that they can be transferred without costing a lot of money. If you want them, email my yahoo account.
